Our Story

Pri & Amane began quietly, not as a business plan, but as a return.

I’m Pri, the artist behind Pri & Amane. Before I dove back into painting, I was and still am a teacher, with art slowly finding its way back into my life on the side. Creativity has always been part of who I am. Long before this became a brand, I was the kid who was constantly making something: sewing, baking, drawing, scrapbooking, experimenting with DIY projects of all kinds. Art was never just one medium, it was a way of expressing myself.

Painting played a big role throughout my high school years, but like many people, it faded during university and early adult life. It wasn’t until the slower, uncertain days of COVID that I found my way back to it. I picked up a paintbrush again, not with a plan, but simply as a creative outlet and a way to reconnect with myself.

What started as painting for myself soon became something more. Friends began asking about the pieces I was creating. Conversations turned into commissions. A few paintings turned into market stalls. And over time, Pri & Amane began to take shape.

The name “Amane” comes from Gujarati, my heritage language, and means “us”. That meaning sits at the heart of this brand. Pri & Amane isn’t just about what I create, it’s a collaboration between my inspirations and the people who connect with the work. Your homes, your stories, and your spaces become part of where these pieces belong.

This business has grown slowly and intentionally, built alongside teaching and everyday life, in spare hours, weekends, and late nights. Each year it has taken up a little more space, not only as a business, but as part of my identity. Learning to fully step into the word “artist” has been part of that journey too.

At its heart, Pri & Amane is about bringing colour back into everyday spaces. It’s a small push against the idea that everything has to be neutral and minimal. Homes can hold personality. Colour can feel joyful, comforting, and expressive. Art doesn’t have to be untouchable - it can be lived with.

Every piece is painted by hand with the hope that it adds warmth, character, and a little brightness to someone’s everyday world.
